Official radio taxi (IMET list)
A Barcelona taxi app lets you order a licensed black-and-yellow taxi to your location, see the driver coming and pay by card in the app. Some apps also offer private-hire cars with driver (VTC), which are not taxis.
The main taxi apps in Barcelona
| App | What you get |
|---|---|
| Freenow by Lyft | The most used taxi app in Barcelona, licensed taxis only. Formerly mytaxi; Lyft bought Freenow in 2025. |
| Uber | Licensed taxis (Uber Taxi) and VTC cars; also at the airport. |
| Cabify | Spanish app with VTC cars and taxis. |
| Bolt | VTC rides and taxis. |
| ElTaxi (Ràdio Taxi 033) | App of the largest radio-taxi company. |
| ALLMOVE (Taxi Ecològic) | App of Taxi Ecològic, now ALLMOVE. |
| Taxi Class, Taximés, Zolty, TaxiBlau, Kiero Taxi | Apps of other local radio-taxi companies. |
Taxi or VTC?
Taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow, regulated by the IMET and use official fares. VTC cars (Uber, Cabify, Bolt) are private-hire vehicles with a price set by the app. In 2026 the Catalan parliament is debating a new taxi law that would restrict VTC in the Barcelona area, so VTC availability may change.
Taxi app at Barcelona airport
Freenow and Uber can send a taxi to El Prat. Booked taxis use the reserved stands at T1 and T2. If you prefer no app, take a taxi from the rank – see the Barcelona airport taxi guide – or pre-book your airport taxi.
